Welcome back to my regularly scheduled life. My wife returned Wednesday night, my daughter returned Friday night, and my parents left Saturday night. We’re a normal family again and it feels good.
We did enjoy having Grandma and Grandpa Stanley up for a day. We puttered around Saturday morning before heading down to Leipers Fork for an early dinner.
Sunday, however, was a different animal altogether. Sunday was filled with events I’ve only watched others go through. After way too many years of avoiding the school calendar, I’m now launching into it with haircuts, uniform purchasing, and other desiderata of the school age child.
My girl will be going to her first day of Kindergarten on Wednesday, and she is much better prepared than I am. I guess the only way to get used to being a parent of a school aged child is to just do it, so here I go!

Please give this message to Evie —– “Oh Evie, Evie, Evie!!!! I am SO excited for your first day of school. I wish I could be there to see you. I think you are going to love school — and to meet so many new friends. I really hope I get to see a picture of you on that special special day. God Bless you.”
Of course there will be pictures. And I’ll give her a special hug and kiss from Aunt Patty!
