Yee Haw!

Yippee! Hallelujah! Yowza! Happy Day! Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah!

That is the carefully curated sound of people all over Nashville enjoying the September weather in the middle of July. I think I swore a while back that I wouldn’t write about weather again, but this time it was just a pure gift, a refreshing two days where the windows and doors are open, the fleece gets pulled on in the morning, outside work doesn’t generate any sweat, the drives are all done with the windows down and the sunroof open, and everyone, and I mean everyone, is outside on their porches, on the sidewalks, or biking around the neighborhood. Heck, I even set a new personal record for my bicycle ride to work, taking 2 minutes off my best time! Screenshot 2014-07-17 20.01.30They were the type of days where you seem to have unlimited energy. You want to hug everyone. You want to stay up late just to soak up the chill in the air. You want to wake up early to feel the cold dew on the grass before it burns off. You child can do no wrong. You want to make love to your wife.

A fleeting, but merciful, break. If I knew that this would happen every summer, it would sure make the southern sauna more bearable.
