An Excellent Wish

We spent the holidays in Idaho with Grandma Hill and Gramps and then came home for a New Years Christmas with my parents. It had all the usual memories of a vacation, but this time a point about vacations with family was driven home when we were blowing out dinner candles and making wishes. Evie made three wishes, one for her, one for mommy, and one for daddy. Even though the rule of wishes usually forbids revealing the wish, she shared that her wish for me was that I would have more days when I didn’t have to go to work.

For someone who is always wondering if the disciplinarian of the parent team is really wanted and loved, it was an awesome validation that she actually enjoys being around me for long periods of time, beyond just our usual weekend daddy and me adventures.

So thank you Evie for that wish. I hope it comes true!
