Adventure Man, Adventure Girl

Yes, my heart’s desire is that my girl will come to love adventure and the outdoors as much as I do. It’s a selfish desire, but I’m not giving it up for lent anytime soon.

Since we moved into the house, my weekend daddy-daughter trips have become much less frequent. However, now that we’ve gotten to somewhat of a plateau on the house (or is it that we’re just tired of working on it?), I’m trying to get back in the habit.

Both Kymberlee and I have been in funks lately, and while I can’t diagnose things perfectly, a large part of it for me has been not having much adventure. So today we were blessed with a 70 degree Winter Solstice which prompted me to find a new hiking destination, put some snacks in the Timbuktu bag, and go on a mini-adventure with Evie.

We went to a place called Hidden Lakes and it was a great place to go with a small child. We did about 1.5 miles that included a couple of small lakes, a river, some local history, and some good photo ops.

It ended in a gentle rain with my girl holding my hand the last 300 yards. Sanity restored. Life is good.
