1989 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe

Due to a move, I am selling my beloved 944. 154K miles, 5 speed manual. This car is a wonderful survivor. All original but not a garage queen, this has been my daily driver since I purchased it on bringatrailer.com in 2017. I’m the sixth owner and I’ve put around 10K trouble free miles on it after investing over $4K in maintenance. You can find the maintenance log online here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S59m0FjefNPCnxLEw6tXyeEk0Q1IlvfOecsygsUFFFU/edit?usp=sharing

Bottom line – Everything works except for ABS and airbags. Sunroof, AC, Cruise control, power windows, clock, glove box hinges, sun visors, etc. The airbags were removed by a previous owner, with the passenger airbag included in the sale. The ABS was disabled 10 years ago. The only body issues are that the plastic rocker panel is damaged from a parking lot curb incident and there is a bit of paint hazing around the gas filler door.

I have fixed or replaced anything that wasn’t working, including cruise control, air conditioning, dash lighting (now bright LEDs), cargo cover, rear speakers, hood struts, hatch struts, hatch latch, and heating control. I also tinted the rear hatch with the highest quality 3M CR40 film.

Now that the oil filter housing is fixed, it leaks very little oil. I would not hesitate to drive this across the US.

Ripped text from BAT auction listing (but updated):

This 1989 Porsche 944 S2 shows 154k miles and was sold new in January 1990 by Heishman’s Porsche in Arlington, Virginia. The car was re-sold by the same dealership as a CPO vehicle in October 1993, and it was acquired by the seller 2.5 years ago. Finished in Linen Grey Metallic over black, the car has been modified with 968 wheels, Hella H4 headlights, and a Momo steering wheel. The 3.0-liter DOHC inline-four is mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle, and the included Porsche CoA shows the car was optioned with a sunroof, partial leather, ABS, cruise control, and more. This 944 S2 is now being offered with some service records, spares, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.

The Linen Grey Metallic was only available for two years, and the car has no known accidents or body repairs. Factory Porsche VIN tags are present on the front fenders and doors, and the car has reportedly been garaged during the last 15 years.

Porsche 968 wheels have been fitted in place of the factory items and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ tires, 1.5 years old. The Hella H4 headlight upgrade included Cibie lenses, 90/100w bulbs, upgraded wiring, relays, and adjustable voltage regulators. A battery cable and driving light upgrade is included but uninstalled.

This car was optioned with a sunroof and black partial leather seats, which show minor creasing on the seat bottom and bolsters.

An aftermarket Sony radio with double DIN display, Android Auto/Car Play and microphone has been installed on the center console, and the factory steering wheel has been replaced with a suede Momo unit. The passenger-side airbag has been removed from the car but is included in the sale. The odometer shows approximately 154k miles, 12k of which have been added by the seller. The odometer driver gear was replaced in 2009.

Power comes from a 3.0-liter DOHC inline-four mated to a rear-mounted 5-speed manual transaxle. The last known timing belt change was performed in 2017 at 142K miles.

Maintenance records are said to consist of a factory service booklet stamped from 1,791 miles in 1990 to 85,601 miles in 1998, as well as assorted records until 2004. Complete records from 2004 are included.
